Why YourBikeBuilder

Build with a reason behind every choice.

YourBikeBuilder is a guided single-speed bicycle planning tool, not a bike shop, fitting service, or large catalogue. Begin with how you ride, your needs, budget, and what you already know.

Six answers create a starting build with reasons for fit, gearing, and component recommendations. Refine one decision at a time, enter parts you own, and add technical details when useful.

A recommendation is a direction to consider, not a selected physical product or a promise that every part fits.

How it works

Start simple. Refine when you want.

You need not know your bottom bracket standard or frame geometry. Technical information appears when a decision needs it.

  1. 01

    Tell us how you ride

Answer six questions about purpose, environment, priorities, budget, height, and guidance. They establish a direction without requiring bicycle standards knowledge.

  2. 02

    Get your starting build

See directions for frame, gearing, tires, handlebar, and crank length. Each recommendation explains which answers influenced it.

  3. 03

Refine one decision at a time

This is not a locked final bicycle. Add fit details, enter existing parts, compare products, and keep concrete choices for later recommendations.

Compatibility

A bike is a system, not a list of parts.

Good components do not automatically make a compatible bicycle. A frame affects fork, headset, seatpost, wheel size, brakes, and tire clearance. Crankset, bottom bracket, chainring, chain, rear hub, and freewheel also depend on one another.

The Builder keeps dependencies visible. It distinguishes suggestions from selected parts, missing specifications, choices needing review, and comparisons supported by recorded facts. Start with a frame, an existing wheelset, or gearing, then fill in the rest.

Unknown specifications stay unknown. A visual preview does not prove physical fit, and a “Checked” comparison does not certify the entire bicycle.

01

Fit

Use height and optional measurements for a starting frame and riding-position direction, not a professional fitting prescription.

02

Gearing

Explore how chainring and freewheel choices change acceleration, cruising feel, cadence, rollout, and estimated speed.

03

Components

Review the parts of the bicycle in an order that suits the decisions you already know.

04

Compatibility

See what is known, what depends on another part, and where a specification is missing.

05

Wheels and tires

Connect wheel dimensions and tire width with clearance, brakes, riding conditions, and gearing estimates.

06

Existing parts

Enter components you own as constraints while planning the pieces you still need.

Built to grow with your knowledge

You do not need to know everything before you start.

New to building

The first questions use information you are likely to know. The result explains what each recommendation means, and missing details can wait until they matter.

Already know your setup

Enter existing components, adjust specifications directly, keep intentional choices, and use the compatibility information to review the remaining bicycle.

Frequently asked questions

What is YourBikeBuilder?

A guided tool for planning a single-speed bicycle. Six answers create a starting build, with reasons you can review and refine as you go.

Do I need to know a lot about bikes?

No. Start with how you ride, your height, budget, and priorities. Technical standards appear when they help with a decision.

Does it check whether components are compatible?

It tracks relevant specifications and dependencies. Missing information stays unresolved; a suggestion alone does not confirm that parts fit.

Can I use components I already own?

Yes. Record existing parts as constraints for recommendations about what you still need.

Is it for fixed-gear bikes?

The current main experience plans a single-speed bicycle with a freewheel. Fixed-gear is not the current product mode.

Does it replace a professional bike fit?

No. Sizing and fit are starting guidance. Seek a professional fitting for pain, physical limitations, or precise performance needs.

Where are my builds saved?

Builds are saved in this browser, not synchronized to an account. Export a .ybb backup before clearing browser data or changing devices.
